Outdoor season kickoff ::: March through May
The spring season is where it all comes together. After a winter of indoor work, players step back onto turf ready to apply what they've built — cleaner stick work, sharper decision-making, and the conditioning that only real fieldwork delivers.
Spring training runs March through mid-May, Tuesday and Thursday evenings at our home fields. Sessions are structured around game-situation play: attacking in the 25, defending the circle, set pieces, and the first three passes out of the back.
We run separate tracks for U10/U12, U14/U16, and high-school/adult players. Everyone gets coaching tailored to the level they're actually at — not a one-size-fits-all curriculum.
Our competitive track travels to the St. Louis, Omaha, and Chicago regional tournaments throughout April and early May. These aren't just showcases — they're real tests against the strongest club programs in the Midwest, and they expose players to the level they'll need to reach for college-level hockey.
Players who commit to the travel schedule get an extra weekly session focused on set plays, pressing triggers, and penalty corner execution. The details that win tight games are the ones we spend the most time on.
Interested in the competitive side? Talk to Coach Gwyn directly — we select based on commitment and willingness to work, not just current skill level.
Spring sessions build sequentially. Early March is about movement quality, first touch, and rebuilding conditioning after winter. By April we've layered in tactical concepts — where to receive, how to pressure, when to switch. May is about finishing: set pieces, goal-scoring patterns, and the small margins that separate winning teams.
Attendance consistency matters. Players who show up two nights a week improve dramatically by mid-April. Players who show up sporadically often end the season at roughly where they started, which is frustrating for them and for the coaches who want to see them grow.
Registration is open now and closes February 20. Email [email protected] or call 816‑805‑1811 to reserve a spot. New players welcome — we'll pair you with a similar-level group for your first few sessions.
