Indoor training & skills development ::: November through February
When the ground freezes and outdoor fields go dormant, KC Styx moves inside. Our winter clinics run Saturdays at Sion High School gymnasium and focus on the details that matter most: stick skills, first touch, reception on the move, and quick-release passing.
Small-sided games at the end of every session let players apply the work immediately. The faster indoor ball rewards clean technique — you either receive it well or you lose it, so bad habits don't survive long.
Open to U10, U12, U14, U16 and adult players. Previous experience helpful but not required — we group by skill level, not just age.
Six-week indoor league runs mid-December through the end of January. Teams mix returning Styx players with area athletes looking to stay sharp for the college season or high-school spring break trials.
Games are 5-a-side on a compressed court with boards — faster, more touches, more decisions per minute. It's the same format used by the US Indoor National Team program, and it accelerates player development in ways the outdoor game can't.
Registration opens November 1. Spots are limited to keep teams competitive and sessions productive.
Players who train through the winter start the spring season two steps ahead. The athletes who take November through February off come back slower, softer-handed, and behind on the tactical concepts we've been layering in since the fall. The work you do now shows up in March, April and May.
Goalkeepers especially benefit from the indoor format — the faster ball, the tight angles, and the constant shot reps build reactions you simply can't drill on a full outdoor field.
